Artist Mladen Miljanović's new video titled ''Sounds of the Homeland“ was premiered on 15 February, on the occasion of the celebration of the Day of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republic of Srpska.

This was also the opportunity to present the audience with Inventory 2018, an annual magazine that includes an overview of all exhibitions and exhibiting activities of the Museum in the past year.

Video “Sounds of the Homeland” was created in May of 2018 in collaboration with Australian director Greg Blakey and his film crew.

The work combines two different points of view concerning the ubiquitous symbols of ethno-nationalism in today’s cultural context as well reflections of veterans from all three armies of the past war and the question of the purpose of their struggle from today’s point of view.

By using an already existing original song by singer-songwriter Ante Bubalo titled “America made a Country out of Bosnia”, Mladen Miljanović records an authentic video work as a song/music video in the form of a “delegated performance”, which is performed by war veterans from all three ethnic armies of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He combines different versions of the same song into a new work that strives for utopia, not utopia as a set of superlatives of social realities, but utopia as merging of the worst of it.

Presentation of the work “Sounds of the Homeland” was preceded by a short film about the process of production, postproduction and recording of the performance on the slopes of Mount Ozren.
