The month of March is a month of gender equality, when International Women's Day is celebrated. This year's March 8th global theme explores how technology and innovation contribute to gender equality. The pilot project "NFT for Women" which the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska implements in cooperation with UN Women in BiH fully combines these two principles.

One of the main goals of the project is the empowerment of women in art and digital technologies, whit an aim to open the door for female artists to enter a new market with great economic potential.

The open call for female artists of all ages in BiH who wanted to market their art within the NFT market was opened from December 1, 2022 until January 30, 2023.

After the closing of the Open Call, the expert jury selected twenty female artists with one artwork each, which will be transformed into an NFT. The original works will be permanently stored in the depot of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republika Srpska. By transforming an artistic work into a digital token, one moves from an analog to a digital form, this changes the value structure in which the original work no longer has its previous market value.

Highly experienced five-member jury whose selected 20 winning artworks are: Marin Ivanović, art historian and director of the University Gallery in Mostar (president of the jury), Dragana Brkić Hodak, senior curator of the Art Gallery of BiH Sarajevo, Miljan Vuković, artist and director of the Cultural of the center of Trebinje, Žana Vukičević, senior curator MSURS, and Sarita Vujković, museum advisor and director MSURS.

The results of the public call were announced on The International Women's Day, March 8th 2023, and presented 20 selected artists, whose artworks became part of the first NFT collection in BiH: Lejla Ahmedspahić, Melisa Ahmetović, Maja Dodig, Edita Gazibara, Maja Halilović, Aleksandra Ivanković, Andrea Krnetić, Marina Krsmanović, Ivana Kurešević, Radmila Lizdek, Ana Lukenda, Jelena Medić, Danijela Mihić, Željka Momirov, Borjana Mrđa, Željka Paić, Nastasija Puhalo, Edina Selesković, Amila Šarić and Alisa Teletović.
