On Saturday, 18 May 2019, the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska marked the fourteenth European Night of Museums. The European Night of Museums is organized under the auspices of the Council of Europe and UNESCO, and is linked to the International Museum Day (18 May), which is established by ICOM and focused each year on a different museum theme.

This year’s theme of the International Museum Day was ’’ Museums as Cultural Hubs: The Future of Tradition’’.

The aim of the theme ‘’Museums as Cultural Hubs’’ was to emphasize the importance of museums in contemporary society which is facing the challenges of rapid technological advancements and social changes. ICOM's subtheme for this manifestation, "Future of Tradition", connects museums with their role as transmitters of tradition in the future, giving them the function of mediators that contribute to the preservation and transfer of traditional knowledge to future generations by modern means.

The program of the European Night of Museums produced by MSURS included the exhibition "Perceptions: The Beauty of a Flower is in the Picking", featuring 14 of the most significant British artists from the British Council collection as well as 12 MSURS artists.

Artist Lala Raščić presented her new series of works with the premiere of her performance GORGO.  Belgrade’s band MAIKA, an unusual and authentic band that brought to the stage a fusion of traditional Balkan roots and dance rhythms, marked the musical part of this manifestation, and this was followed by a DJ set by Oridžidži. Thanks to the EU Info Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the audience had the opportunity to virtually visit some of the European museums.

The program of the European Night of Museums was realised with the support of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, the City of Banja Luka, and the EU Info Center in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This year’s friends of the Museum were, once again, the M:tel Company and the Banja Luka Brewery.
The European Night of Museums was organized within the manifestation ’’Spring in Banja Luka’’.
