On May 14, 2022, the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska will celebrate the seventeenth European Night of the Museums.
This year's programme is focused on connecting the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka and the City of Trebinje, but also on the opening of the new reconstructed space of the Museum.
The Night of the Museums event starts at 8 PM with the opening of two multimedia exhibitions - Banja Luka’s artist Borjana Mrdja, professor at the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka titled "Decorative Selves", and Trebinje’s artist Igor Bošnjak, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Trebinje, titled "The Future Repeats itself More Than History. "
On this evening, the doors of the new reconstructed space will be open to the public after the completion of the first phase of reconstruction of the facility, which included the installation of an elevator, renovation of the premises intended for the first public art library in the Republic of Srpska, reading room as well as a research center. The audience will have the opportunity to see the exhibition of photo-documentation that accompanies the reconstruction of the Museum.
During the evening, we will enjoy an interesting and interactive music programme titled "The Night of Music", in which students of the Music Department of the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka will present a series of chamber concerts in a new, renovated space.
The plateau in front of the Museum is reserved for the performance of DJ Dalibor D and "Live looping" musical performance by Albert Savić.
This year's theme of the European Night of the Museums is "Power of Museums", which aims to present museums as places of discovery, places that teach us about our past and open our minds to new ideas in building a better future.
Special guests of the Night of the Museums are the students of the school of drawing and painting of the artist Renato Rakić, who will be inspired by the events and record their artistic impressions.
The Night of the Museums is being realised with the support of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, the mixed holding "Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske" and the City of Banja Luka within the programme of the event "Spring in Banja Luka".
