The workshop "Persons with Disabilities in Museums" was aimed at museum professionals, cultural workers, artists, NGO representatives, persons with disabilities, and associations and organisations gathering persons with disabilities.
The three-day workshop was an opportunity for the participants to learn about the ways in which museums can make their premises more accessible for the disabled, and to adapt their activities to the needs of this population. The participants were told about the good practices in social inclusion of the disabled followed in the region, i.e., by institutions which have increased their accessibility through cooperation with the Balkan Museum Network. They were also encouraged to assess the disability access of the host institution (Museum of Contemporary Art of RS), and were asked at the end of the workshop to draw up a plan of related initial activities to be undertaken at their home museums.
The goal of the project was to increase museum accessibility for the disabled, enable their participation in activities undertaken by museums, and strengthen ties between museums, galleries and other culture institutions with persons with physical disabilities.
