This was the second stop motion animation workshop organised by MSURS, and it brought together fifteen primary school pupils, students of the Dragaš School of Drawing and Painting.

The workshop moderators carried out dynamic theoretical and practical work to familiarise the participants with the basic principles of animation, from concept to realisation. The main goal of the workshop was to help the participating students learn more about animation as a way to express oneself creatively while reaching into many different disciplines, which was achieved through a series of short exercises in stop motion animation, with each participant developing and realising a mini project, which included elaborating/writing a scenario and drawing a storyboard for a joint animation.

The theme of the workshop, "Museum Collections Create Connections", was also the theme of International Museum Day, which is celebrated on 18 May, and as their final product the workshop participants made a promotional video for this year’s The Long Night of Museums.

This model of work and holding workshops with the youngest indicate the need to encourage both independent and collective activities, with the end goal of heightening awareness of the importance to educate school children and encourage students to express themselves artistically.

Moderators: Miodrag Manojlović, artist and professor, University for Business Studies Banja Luka, Renato Rakić, artist and founder of Dragaš School of Drawing and Painting, and Nemanja Mićević, graphic designer, Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska.

The workshop was organised as part of the Multimedia Art Project of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska, supported by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
