The video workshop "Video Edition 01" was the first project of The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska to initiate and support the production and promotion of video art.

It stressed the necessity to help develop video art as a medium which dominates contemporary art practices. One of the most important objectives of the project was to map young artists with the capacity to develop artistic practices using video as the medium, recognise them and introduce them to institutionalised art.

The workshop brought together fifteen young artists and students from different departments of the Academy of Arts and the University for Business Studies. The project took the form of two concurrent processes, one of which was educational and the other creative. The educational part included lectures by Sarita Vujković, Dr.Sc. and Mladen Miljanović, Mr.Sc. on the history and development of video as an art medium. Next, the workshop participants had the task to make a video and process it with the help of the workshop moderator.

After the educational and creative steps of the process, the workshop participants presented their works in the form of videos and video installations to the public, five of which were selected to be included in the first video edition of The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska.

Moderators: Mladen Miljanović, Mr.Sc., artist and docent, Academy of Arts Banja Luka, Sarita Vujković, Dr.Sc., Advisor, Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska, Vladimir Klepić, production assistant, and Žana Vukičević, Curator, Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska.

The workshop was run as part of the Multimedia Art Project of MSURS, supported by the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
