The regional workshop for preventive conservation titled "Protection of Cultural Heritage in Emergency Situations Caused by Climate Change" brought together thirty museum specialists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Macedonia.

This event was organised by The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska, The Central Institute for Conservation in Belgrade, the Regional Alliance of ICOM for South East Europe and the National Committee of ICOM Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development in Amsterdam.

The theme of the workshop was the protection of cultural heritage in emergency situations as a common problem shared by all the participating countries, in regard to climate change and natural disasters that swept the region in 2014 and seriously endangered its cultural heritage.

The workshop was designed as an educational event consisting of theoretical lectures by experts in the field of preventive conservation and of practical exercises intended to allow the participants to acquire knowledge about the methodology of cultural heritage protection and adequate response to natural disasters.

On the last day of the workshop there was a round table and a panel discussion with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, for the purpose of creating opportunities for comparison, consultation and exchange of ideas about possible solutions to the common problems related to emergency situations. On that occasion, several participants shared their experiences, namely, Mila Popović Živančević, Dr.Sc. (Central Institute for Conservation in Belgrade), Marjeta Mikuž, Dr.Sc. (National Museum of Slovenia), Milica Kotur, Mr.Sc. (Institute for Protection of Cultural, Historical and Natural Heritage of Republic of Srpska) and Maja Novaković, MA (City Museum of Ilok).
