During the staging of the exhibition "Belgrade by Jovan Bijelić" the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska and Hypo Alpe Adria Bank held, in cooperation with the Gallery of Matica Srpska from Novi Sad, three creative workshops for children aged six to fourteen. The idea was to help children learn about the life and work of Jovan Bijelić in a way that would be interesting for them.

The first workshop, "Let’s get to know the artist through the vivid colours of his paintings", was a chance for children to find out about who Jovan Bijelić was, where he lived and which European cities he went to school in. By looking at the artist’s works in the exhibition the children learnt about how he experienced his home country by showing them in paintings and how he remembered it while far away. After seeing how Bijelić created his paintings and what colours and motifs he used, the children tried to come to conclusions about the artist and his temperament.

In the creative part of the workshop, moderated by painter Renato Rakić, the children were encouraged to interpret the paintings on their own, based on the colours used, after which they drew or painted their favourite artwork by Jovan Bijelić.
