"Creating magical spaces is what painters are gifted for" was the third creative workshop for children held as part of the programme accompanying the exhibition "Belgrade by Jovan Bijelić".
The workshop was run by a special guest, Dragana Purković Macan, a scenic designer working with the National Theatre of the Republic of Srpska, winner of multiple awards for her scenic designs. She explained to the workshop participants what her job is about, and the children learnt about who scenic designers are, what they do and how they manage to turn a theatre stage into a different place each time. They also saw how Jovan Bijelić made his set designs, where his ideas came from and what he needed to do to turn them into reality.
The workshop participants visited the Children’s Theatre of the Republic of Srpska and had a glimpse into the magical world of puppets and the set designs of some well-known children’s plays. In the creative part of the workshop the children tried to design and make a scenography for one of their favourite stories, with the help of painter Renato Rakić and the guest.
The series of creative workshops "The Colourful World of Jovan Bijelić" was organised by the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska with the support of Hypo Alpe Adria Bank and in cooperation with the Gallery of Matica Srpska in Novi Sad.
