The 6th Regional Museum Meeting was organised by the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska in cooperation with the Regional Alliance of ICOM for South East Europe and the National Committee of ICOM Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The programme of this three-day professional conference included 24 lectures and presentations by museum professionals from a number of museums from South East Europe, among which the Typhlological Museum in Zagreb, the Slovene Ethnographic Museum in Ljubljana, the Museum of Macedonia in Skoplje, the National Museum in Kikinda, CHwB Foundation, the Technical Museum in Zagreb, the Museum of Pedagogy in Belgrade, the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb, the Museum of African Art in Belgrade, Lastovo Open-Air Museum, the City Museum of Kriva Palanka, the Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection in Novi Sad, the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb, the Karlovac City Museum, the Natural History Museum in Belgrade, and the National Museum in Sarajevo.
The 6th Regional Museum Meeting had special guests from Italy, Prof. Roberto Zancan (UNESCO Chair at Iuav University in Venice) and Prof. Guido Incerti (University of Ferrara).
The topic of the 6th Regional Museum Meeting, "Social Inclusion and the Contemporary Museum", was selected in view of the fact social inclusion is one of the key issues facing today’s museology. It is one of the biggest professional challenges for museums in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
The aim of the conference was to broaden the experience and knowledge of social inclusion and the role of museums in present-day society, and to formulate a new museum action strategy in this field.
