The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska celebrated its day on 10 February by opening the exhibition “50 Years of Graphic Communications in Serbia 1960–2010ˮ, organised in association with the Museum of Applied Art, Belgrade.

The exhibition included all the materials collected for years by Rаdomir Vuković, a graphic designer and founder of the “KVADART” Magazine for Visual Communications, and eventually presented to the Museum of Applied Art in Belgrade.

The exhibit “50 Years of Graphic Communications in Serbia 1960–2010 put on display the most characteristic symbols and systems used in graphic communication in Serbia in the last 50 years, those also previously published in the catalogues “Znаkovito 2” and “Znаkovito 3” under the alphabets, numbers, signs, logotypes and graphic systems categories

Another exhibition was concurrently opened, titled “BANJALOOK 3 – Graphic Design in the Republic of Srpska, which showed work by graphic designers from the Republic of Srpska made in the last twenty years. There was a call for bids by the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska inviting graphic designers to compete to participate in the show, which was open for applications October to December 2011 inclusive.

Following a selection process by graphic designer Rаdomir Vuković and project coordinator Dr.Sc. Gorаn Jаnković, 39 authors and 371 works were chosen under categories logotypes, pictograms and visual systems, of which 198 were included in the exhibit. They were mostly works by graphic designers from Bаnja Luka, but there were also some from Trebinje, Bijeljina and Doboj (Novаk Demonjić, Sаšа Đorđević, Sаšа Vаsić, Nebojšа Đumić, Gorаn Jаnković, Dejаn Šijuk, Desimir Miljić, Vlаdimir Kosić, Nenаd Stokić, Ljubomir Todorović etc.). For their great importance and the fact their work made Banja Luka’s visual identity recognisable, the works of deceased artists Brаnko Šestić, Slobodаn Drаgаš and Žаrko Kecmаn were also put in the show.
