This is an exhibition of works selected from Drаginja and Vojo Terzić’s fine collection of Yugoslav paintings, once reputed to be the most numerous in the territory of the former Yugoslavia.

Aware of the value of the artworks in their possession and of the importance of their conceptual connection, it was more than thirty years ago that the Terzićes made the city of Banja Luka and its citizens the legal owner of one-third of the collection, with the wish to make it accessible to audiences and the public.

This exhibition is being mounted with the aim to revaluate the collection and raise public awareness about the current state of the bequest. The collection has not been kept at the Terzić Gallery for years now; its original depository has become devastated and derelict due to negligence and is now dysfunctional and does not meet present-day museological standards to be the home of an exhibit.

The exhibition includes the works by the greatest painters in the collection: Sаva Šumаnović, Petar Dobrović, Milаn Konjović, Jovаn Bijelić, Mile Milunović, Gаbrijel Jurkić, Ivаnka Bukovаc, Romаn Petrović, Pero Popović, Vojislаv Hаdžidаmjаnović, Ismet Mujezinović, Rаdenko Mišević, Stojаn Arаlica, Kosta Hаkmаn, Oton Postružnik, Pjer Križаnić, Mаrijаn Trepše, Tomislаv Krizmаn, Brаnko Šenoa, Đuro Pulitika, Ivаn Lаcković, Borislаv Aleksić, Mersаd Berber, Kemаl Širbegović, Mlаden Solda, Viktor Šerbu, and others.

The exhibition “What Happened to the Drаginja and Vojo Terzić Gallery?” is an attempt of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Republic of Srpska to competently and accountably meet its professional obligation to ensure a new start and a new life for the Terzić Collection, and help these fine works of art, which belong to the City of Banja Luka, get their permanent exhibition space and be rescued from oblivion.
