"Margins: Slovenian Contemporary Photography" presents the different standpoints and practices of selected Slovenian artists, who use photography as their primary medium of expression.

"Margins: Slovenian Contemporary Photography" is a visiting exhibition by the Photon – Centre for Contemporary Photography in Ljubljana which presents a group of contemporary photographs whose work has marked the Slovenian art and photo scene in the last ten years. Although the works by the selected artists adhere to the technical principles of documentary photography, they are categorised as art.

The exhibits are records and materialisations of themes, stories and phenomena as recognised/seen by the selected artists in their immediate surroundings, such as up-to-date topics revelatory of the spiritual state of society, the artists᾿ intimate views on their communities/surroundings put forward in the form of universal tales of contemporaneous phenomena and occurrences. They are documentary works that explore marginal stories and places (Jaka Babnik, Matjaž Rušt and Robert Marin), series that permeate the social sphere as seen through the personal lens of an individual (Vanja Bućan, Emina Đukić), and projects that question the ambivalent nature of photography as a medium by means of visual metaphors (Peter Rauh).
